Once upon a time, in a cosy little drawer, there lived a sock named Stripes.
Stripes was a very happy sock.
Red and white and wiggly at the top. ๐งฆ
But one morning, Stripes woke up and looked around.
Something was wrong.
Something was missing.
“Where is my other me?” said Stripes.
๐ Looking, Looking, Looking
Stripes hopped out of the drawer.
Boing. Boing. Boing.
Stripes looked under the bed.
Just some dust and a very old cracker.
Stripes looked behind the door.
Just a spider who waved hello. ๐ท๏ธ
Stripes looked inside a shoe.
“Excuse me,” said the shoe. “I am trying to sleep.”
“Sorry,” said Stripes.
No sock anywhere.
Stripes sat down on the floor and felt very, very small.
๐ A Helper Arrives
Just then, Theodore came padding into the room in bare feet.
Theodore looked at Stripes sitting sadly on the floor.
“Little sock!” said Theodore. “What’s wrong?”
“I lost my pair,” said Stripes. “I am only one. I should be two.”
Theodore sat down cross-legged on the floor.
Right next to Stripes.
“Let’s look together,” said Theodore.
Stripes felt a tiny bit better already.
๐๏ธ The Big Sofa Search
Theodore lifted the sofa cushions one by one.
There was a button.
There was a coin.
There was something sticky that nobody talked about.
Then โ
“STRIPES!” shouted Theodore.
Tucked right in the corner, all squished and sleepy, was the other sock.
Same red stripes.
Same wiggly top.
A tiny bit dusty but perfectly fine. ๐งฆ
“You found me!” said the other sock, waking up with a big yawn.
“WE found you,” said Stripes happily.
๐ค Together Again
Theodore put both socks on.
Left foot. Right foot.
Stripes wriggled with joy.
Wiggle wiggle wiggle.
“This,” said Stripes, “is the very best feeling.”
Theodore looked down at both feet and smiled the biggest smile.
Then Theodore did a little dance.
Just because.
Stamp stamp stamp. Shuffle shuffle. Stamp. ๐บ
The socks danced too, right there on Theodore’s feet.
All the way to breakfast.
