Once upon a time, far out in the deep blue sea, there lived a little wave named Pip.
All day long, the big waves rolled and crashed and roared all the way to the shore.
CRASH. BOOM. WHOOOOSH. 🌊🌊🌊
Pip watched them go.
Then Pip tried to roll too.
She got a little bigger.
Then she went flat again.
Fzzzzz.
“I’m too small,” said Pip. “I’ll never reach the shore.”
🌊 The Big Waves Don’t Help
Pip asked the biggest wave, whose name was Rollo.
“Rollo, how do you get so big?”
Rollo crashed magnificently.
“You just ARE big,” said Rollo. “I don’t think about it.”
That wasn’t very helpful.
Pip asked the second biggest wave.
“Just push harder,” said the wave, and rolled away importantly.
Pip pushed harder.
She got a tiny bit bigger.
Then flopped.
Fzzzz.
“I will never reach the shore,” Pip sighed.
👧 Someone Believes in Pip
On the beach, Mia was sitting at the water’s edge with toes in the wet sand, watching all the waves come in.
Mia noticed one little wave that kept trying.
Roll. Flatten. Roll. Flatten.
“Keep going, little wave!” Mia called out.
Pip heard it.
A small voice. But so warm.
“Me?” said Pip.
“Yes, you!” said Mia. “You’re almost here! I can see you coming!”
“But I’m too small,” said Pip.
Mia shook their head.
“Small waves reach the shore too. EVERY wave reaches the shore. Just keep going.”
🏄 All the Way to Shore
Pip took a deep breath.
She didn’t try to be like Rollo.
She didn’t try to crash and boom.
She just… rolled.
Her own roll.
Her own size.
Her own way.
And she kept going.
And going.
And going.
Until —
whoooosh — 🌊
She felt warm sand.
She had reached the shore.
She spread herself thin and foamy and perfect right over Mia’s toes.
Mia squealed with joy.
“YOU DID IT, PIP!”
Pip fizzled happily in the sand.
It was the best feeling in the whole wide ocean.
