The Bus That Missed Its Stop

๐ŸšŒ
๐Ÿ“– Full Story
Full Story

Bus Number Seven knew every stop on his route.

The bakery. The park. The school. The library. The big roundabout. Home again.

Every single day.

Same stops. Same order. Same everything.

Until Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Bus Number Seven sneezed.

AAAH-CHOO.

And missed the turning.

“Oh,” said the bus. ๐ŸšŒ

๐Ÿ™๏ธ Where Are We Going?

The passengers looked up from their books and their sandwiches and their very important phone calls.

The street outside was not the usual street.

A woman in a yellow coat looked left.
An old man in a hat looked right.
A small dog on a lead looked down (the dog had no idea about streets).

“This isn’t my stop,” said the woman in the yellow coat.

“No,” agreed the bus. “I’m very sorry. I sneezed.”

“Buses don’t sneeze,” said the old man in the hat.

The bus sneezed again, which settled that.

AAAH-CHOO.

๐ŸŒ† The Unexpected Tour

Bus Number Seven went left.

And found a street with a flower market nobody knew was there.

Roses and sunflowers and tiny blue things whose name nobody knew.

“Oh!” said the woman in the yellow coat.

Bus Number Seven went right.

And found a square with a fountain shaped like a fish, right in the middle of the city, which nobody had ever visited.

“Oh!” said the old man in the hat.

Bus Number Seven went straight ahead.

And found a bakery โ€” not his usual bakery โ€” a bakery with a window display of cakes that looked exactly like little buildings.

The small dog pressed its nose to the glass.

It was all very interesting.

๐Ÿ’› Alexander Gets on at Exactly the Right Time

Alexander was waiting at the corner โ€” a corner Bus Number Seven had never stopped at before โ€” when the bus appeared.

The door opened.

“This isn’t the Number Seven route,” said Alexander.

“I sneezed,” said the bus.

“Where are you going?”

“I’m not entirely sure,” said the bus cheerfully. “But so far it’s been very good. Would you like to come?”

Alexander looked at the passengers inside.

The woman in the yellow coat was holding flowers.
The old man was sketching the fish fountain in a little notebook.
The small dog was asleep, which dogs consider an excellent end to any adventure.

Alexander got on.

Sometimes the wrong turn is the best one. ๐ŸšŒ
